Come See Us During The 2015 NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes

It’s almost Fall Y’all! Well on the calendar anyway. Every year in the fall the Austin NARI chapter puts on a Tour of Remodeled Homes.  This year the tour will include homes from

We are thrilled to be able to have two homes on the tour this year! I thought maybe you would like a sneak peek into what houses will be featured.

The first one is located at 606 E 42nd St. This Hyde Park craftsman cottage had been gutted and left vacant for several years, when 42nd was purchased by the next door neighbors to turn in to their primary residence. The home was remodeled and expanded by 1,200 square feet and features a stunning La CornuFe stove. With a large clear story in the rear of the house the living space is extended from the first floor to the second. The second story features a master suit and an open air raised balcony. The native landscaping and balconies continue the design from the interior to the exterior making this truly home that entertains in all seasons.

The second one is located at 1005 Eason. 1005 Eason is a 2,200 sf 1950 cottage in the Clarksville neighborhood of Austin. The new owner, a single doctor, wanted a modernized interior that fit his style, and as a frequent entertainer, he wanted the kitchen to be the home’s true showcase. The biggest challenge with Eason was designing the new spaces around the city code because multiple additions and flat roofs were causing water to get into the house. By raising the roof pitch, the city was concerned that we were creating additional living space, so it took a concerted collaboration between us and the architects to re-design the roof line over the kitchen area in a way that would be acceptable to the city.   Partnering with A Parallel Architecture, we were able to deliver a fully renovated, one-of-a-kind kitchen showcase that blends the modern with the traditional. The end result is a warm, sunny, and inviting space that draws people in to gather, cook, eat, and enjoy each other’s company.
